Jim is a Principal of Pelican Woodcliff and heads up our Cost Estimating and Cost Planning department. He acts as team leader on many of our Cost Planning assignments where typically he is the main point of contact within Pelican Woodcliff and is responsible for reviewing estimates prior to issuing them to our Clients.Jim’s thirty-plus years of experience in estimating and cost planning has seen him involved in almost every type of project. His focus continues to be establishing and maintaining realistic construction budgets through consultation and collaboration with our Clients and their Designers. Over the course of his career, Jim has developed an excellent “feeling” for construction costs and a natural ability to flesh out the scope of projects and identify areas of risk during the earliest stages of the design process. This ability to envision project issues and evaluate them based on minimal design input has proved invaluable to many of our Clients by ensuring that initial budgets address the complete project scope with no surprises later in the design process.
Jim’s cost planning capabilities are further enhanced by his awareness and vigilance regarding cost inefficiencies in projects and the potential for cost reduction strategies as a means of preserving, or reducing, the budget.
